Reading is joyful and enriching. It opens doors to learning, fuels imagination, inspires hope – and sets kids up for a brighter future.

But, when the pandemic hit, reading resources weren’t easily accessible to all families. Schools, libraries and other community resources were closed. So a coalition of literacy groups came together, along with food bank partners, to form Read On Canada!/Lisons Canada!. Together, we distributed more than 300,000 brand-new children’s books over the summers of 2020 and 2021.

Although book distribution through Read On Canada! has now ended, you can still find lots of fun activities on this site for families to keep children 'reading on'. If your program is looking for affordable, high quality books, CCLF is collaborating with First Book Canada to offer books to programs at reduced prices thanks to publishers from across Canada.
